IPL: Have you checked these stats already?

If Indian Premier League 2020 was supposed to start by the due time, we were just 2 days away from kicking off an all new edition of the tournament. The corona scare has postponed the start till 15th April and it still needs to be seen whether it will happen or not with later being the most likely case. In the 12 editions of IPL till date, the numbers have been created and the records have been broken. There are many stats which are known to you but there are many more of them which you might not have checked already. Here are some of the legit stats of IPL which are not much talked about:-

Best batting average (Min. 500 runs)

When it comes to batting prowess in IPL, there are too many guys who have shined over the years. But people do not talk about the batting average much often. The best batting average in IPL belongs to Hashim Amla. He has played only 16 matches in his IPL career but he has scored 577 runs at an average of 44.38 which is commendable. He has strike rate of well over 140 too. Jonny Bairstow might just be able to surpass Hashim in the season to follow since he is very close to the 500 runs mark and has an astonishing average of 55.62!

Best bowling strike rate (Min. 40 wickets)

Bowling performances in IPL have been overshadowed by the batting ones more often than not. There is little to no advantage for the bowlers on the flat tracks but some of the bowlers have went on to pick wickets in quick successions. The strike rate for a bowler is very important especially in limited over internationals where you don't have too many overs to bowl. Striking at 15.5, Imran Tahir has the best bowling strike rate as he has picked 79 wickets in just 55 matches.

Best batting strike rate (Min. 500 runs)

When it comes to striking ball at a quick rate, there's no bigger name in T20 internationals than Andre Russell. Impact wise, he has been the most successful player in past couple of years and pulling off some magical wins single handedly for KKR. In his IPL career, he has struck 1400 runs at a destructive strike rate of 186.42. He is followed by Sunil Narine, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya.

Most number of ducks (Proper Batsmen)

Although the number is tied between Parthiv Patel and Harbhajan Singh, the later cannot be considered a proper batsmen. Amongst those who are proper batters, Parthiv Patel has claimed the most number of ducks with 13 into his account. He is closely followed by Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir at 12. The number of ducks is an embarrassing stat for any batsmen and Parthiv Patel would wish his name gets overtaken on this list.

Most number of dismissals

This is a stat which was overturned in the very last match of IPL. It has been a tussle between MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik over the years, both of whom have been doing incredibly well behind the stumps all these years in IPL. As of now, MS Dhoni is leading the race with 132 dismissals while Dinesh Karthik is second in this list with 131 dismissals. It will be interesting to see who leads this list in the next season!

    Most five wicket halls

He might have become a trolling session on social media for past couple of years but Jaydev Unadkat has had some special performances in IPL in the past. He and James Faulkner are the only two guys to pick a couple of five wicket halls while Malinga, Harbhajan, Ishant, Jospeh has picked up one each. It is tough to pick a couple of wickets within 4 overs of quota so credits need to be given to Jaydev Unadkat for turning out big when he performs at his level best!

So these are some of the stats which do not come into limelight all the time. Will there be any changes in these stats in the edition to come? Will IPL 2020 be shelved completely? We will be able to find out only with the time!
