Happy independence day to all the Indian citizens. As we celebrate the 74th independence day, here's a poem written by Ayushi Das which talks about all the struggle it took us to finally get the freedom we craved for so long. Check it out!
"At the crack of dawn,
The strangers arrived on the holy lands,
Started dictating it as if they owned,
The scared ground was grabbed by those hands.
At first it was all hustle and chaos,
The system seemed to be blown,
The Britishers showed their cruelty,
The crown was overthrown.
Then the uprising started,
Leaders led the wars,
Sick of being dominated and deprived,
We wanted back what was ours.
Tilak, Lajpat Rai and Shastri,
The extremists ran riots with confidence,
While Gandhi, Nehru and Patel,
Walked on the path of non-violence.
Bhagat Singh, Azad and Sukhdev never hesitated,
To give their lives for the country,
For the sake of our golden soil,
Bose went on to grab victory.
After several years of struggle and pain,
The Britishers agreed to surrender,
That's how India got it's freedom back,
Caged in the past, but now free to wander." ~ Ayushi Das
