Future of sports under current circumstances

Covid-19 has hit sports really bad

If we make a list of the things that has been hit really hard by COVID-19, sports may be close to the very top of it. It was somewhere around the first few weeks of March where attendance of all the sports events went for a toss as matches were contested amidst empty stands. But soon after we refrained from the live telecast of any of the sport since the entire world went for a complete lockdown. So what does the future of sports look like? This is a question which is making every sports fan tensed and a bit insecure since it looks uncertain as of now. We can still try to analyze how the future looks like under COVID-19 so here's Ajtalk discussing if the time to come looks bright enough for sports or not:-

           Attendance

One of the key aspects of any outdoor sport is its attendance. This is really disheartening but facts need to be laid straight up and the fact of the matter is that attendance is going to be affected severely for every sport in the time to come. It is predicted that the future of sports will barely see half of the attendance in proportion to the capacity of the stadium. This is only in a situation if the area of the city around the stadium is in green zone but if there is a red alert around the place due to COVID-19, there wouldn't be any attendance at all in the first place. For cricket and football, attendance means everything as it helps to pump up the spirits of the sportsmen which allows them to be at their level best. Sadly, the heart and soul of sports is surely going to suffer in the time to come until it is made sure that coronavirus is done and dusted for real.

But in case the vaccine is found rather sooner than later, you would not see a match without a full packed crowd. Such kind of attendance increases the animosity in the air which is suitable for the viewers as well as the sportsmen.

Schedules

Schedules of different kinds of sports may get settled after a period of time. This is a time when COVID-19 is slowly going down from its peak and it will allow everyone to feel safe each passing day. Future of sports is sure to see a dramatic turn of events but the schedule is going to run normally after a couple of months for sure. The players might be required to play in front of empty stands  thanks to COVID-19 but there wouldn't be an impact on schedule after a couple of months. So those of them who check out their favourite sport only on the live telecast can feel right at their home in the time to come.

It's going to keep both fans as well as the players busy and the revenues will still be generated. It is almost certain that all the sports will go wide open and players will travel internationally once the spread is not as active as it is currently.

Precautions

There is always a certain number of precautions taken before the game starts but the future of sports is going to see much more things in the same zone just to ensure the safety of the sportsmen and the fans if they will be in the attendance. The stadiums will be sanitised time and again and the social distancing will, of course, be maintained in all the ways that it can be done. Covid-19 is sure to impact life in general if you do not try to give your health a priority especially in a public place. We know for a fact that there is no other crowded area quite like a football, a cricket or a basketball match and it can lead to serious repercussions if the right measures are not taken.

Currently, all the celebrity sportsmen are themselves terrified of the fact that there's no cure to COVID-19. This is also a major reason why most of the sports events are not taking place since the poster boys are missing and it leads to losses for the hosts of tournaments and series.

Other than this, players themselves need to be responsible regarding their actions and the other staff that goes around with them. There's no doubt regarding the fact that COVID-19 is not going to fade away anytime soon and the future of sports will be halted for a good amount of time and that's not a good sign at all. But the expectations are bright and better things are definitely coming up. All you gotta do is wait for the right moment.

  9. Most sports out priced their fans with ridiculously expensive tickets and pay-per-view only options that I stopped caring about sports years ago. Return sports to the fans

  10. This is an interesting read. It's crazy to think how much is going to change because of the virus. I am nervous to go to the shops, so sporting games are off the table for the moment. I think that we need to be careful with sports - if the players get's infected it could be a big issue for their career!
