Top 5 Christopher Nolan Films

Best work of Christopher Nolan is listed in this blog

When we talk about film directors all across the globe, there are a few names that will always attract the masses towards their films. It is majorly the actors featuring in a film who generate the hype for it but some of the directors happen to have stardom of their own as well. Christopher Nolan happens to be one of those big names sitting on the directorial seat. As we all know that Tenet is his new venture which was supposed to release in the first half of 2020. Due to the pandemic, the release is due for a future date. He is one of those rare directors who set new benchmarks every time he makes a film. The hard work can be seen clearly in his projects and here are 5 of his best movies ever. It is really hard to pick 5 films from a wide range of classics but after looking into things nicely, I was able to get there with the best of the best projects from his side. Here are his greatest movies in descending order:-

   5) The Prestige (2006)

Prestige featured Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman

This was around a time when Christopher Nolan had just seen stardom after the release of Batman Begins in 2005. It was a totally different film than the latter, lacking the commercial appeal which Batman Begins had. Starring Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman in the lead roles, it was a psychological thriller where two friends turn bitter rivals and both of them are magicians. The film has a great screenplay which doesn't wait to showcase you twists and turns from time to time. It is definitely a great watch for people who love psychological thrillers. It is ranked low on the list only because Nolan has produced more impactful films. In some other director's list, a movie having this much calibre would have topped the charts but the bars are really high in case of the "wild man" of modern filmmaking. It is available on digital platforms right now and it is a must-watch if you haven't done yourself the favour already!

4) The Dark Knight (2008)

Joker played by Health Ledger in The Dark Knight

Surprised? I know it is favourite to so many folks out there. But just because a film is popular and has a cult fanbase, it doesn't mean it has to be the best work of the same director. The Dark Knight is a classic in all means but here I am talking about Christopher Nolan and his best works which means I am focusing around the story, the screenplay, the dialogues, the uniqueness and because this is based on comics, I feel we need to give more credits to Christopher Nolan as a writer who is amply supported by his brother Jonathan Nolan. It is the best Christopher Nolan film in terms of commercial appeal for sure with a historical performance by Heath Ledger as Joker. It is still his highest-grossing film too which makes it even more special. The USP of this project, however, is its dialogues. I am pretty sure you have watched it already so further explanation is not really needed. If you haven't, check this out right now and it is sure to enter your favourites list since it connects almost instantly with all kinds of fans.

3) Interstellar (2014)

Interstellar is regarded as one of the best sci-fi films

The beauty of the work done by Christopher Nolan is that he has worked around most of the genres. Most of the directors are scared to step out of their comfort zone but the woodcock of Hollywood has done commercial as well as content-driven cinema. Interstellar is kind of a mix of both where emotions run high on you all the time. This film is bound to make you cry a few times but this is also a movie which will educate you and help you learn about science in detail. Such is the precision of this genius that each shot seems genuine and it does not go over the top at all. This is what you need in sci-fi too, it needs to be interlinked with the realm which means you have to put a lot of hard work to understand science in general. The fun fact about this film is that there were several candidates to direct this film from 1997 to 2012 but Paramount never got the one who was capable of handling such an ambitious project. Then came Nolan to the scene who wrote the screenplay along with his brother within a year and the film was released in late 2014 to rave reviews by critics and audience alike.

2) Memento (2000)

Memento has been remade in several languages all across the world

While some people might be surprised to see this film over the likes of Dark Knight and Interstellar, I personally feel that this film doesn't get its due credits. This film was made at a budget of just $4.5 million and further proof of the fact that more than the visuals, the story matters the most to make a quality product and this film has one of the most original stories and a screenplay that you can look for. It is a story of a guy facing anterograde amnesia who is looking for the person who killed his wife. The use of colour in this film is simply amazing and the genius in Christopher Nolan was born after this film as he went on to become better and better. Some people might question why this film is so high on this list but if you have watched it, you would know the kind of product that it is, simply brilliant. The pace of this film is very different from the other works of Christopher Nolan but this is a psychological thriller which is one of its kind!

Before I talk about the best work by him, credits need to be given to films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Rises, Dunkirk and we hope that Tenet is as amazing as it looks which we can anticipate after looking at the trailer for the film.

1) Inception (2010)

Leonardo DiCaprio starred in the lead role of Inception

If you have seen this classic, you won't wonder why this film has topped the list. The IMDb for this film stands at 8.8 but for me, this one is a complete 10. A cinematic masterpiece, the movie has the best soundtrack, the best screenplay, the best story and the best climax you have even seen and that's not a joke. There's an entirely different blog written by me on how good this project is, (Inception: Hollywood movie of the 2010s)  you cannot thank Christopher Nolan enough for this film. It is really exciting that Tenet falls almost in the same zone where you are clueless of what is going around so you watch the trailer time and again. Inception is a blurred line between reality and dreams but the funny thing is, you are not able to make it out whether one of its sequences is a dream or a reality. This is Christopher Nolan's zone and he has mastered the craft of hooking his viewers in and making them expect the unexpected but they are still left in shock by the end of it. Watch it once again to get new meaning out of it and if you haven't, what are you waiting for? You cannot miss such a fantastic work if you're a movie buff.

Agree to my list? Is there something you wanna say about any of these films? Comment below your opinions about it!

    1. No, Interstellar actually educates you and a much difficult premise to execute and works well with the audience.. definitely better than the prestige for me overall!

    2. Yeah i got u.... Intersteller has more audience draw.. Its huge... But artistically the prestige is far better... Its nearly perfect film if not perfect....

    3. No you can't say that artistically it is better, Interstellar in its art form is amazing too.. I would call them at par in that aspect, you might be saying this because prestige is a thriller and thrillers usually increases your pulse unlike a sci-fi
